One of the reasons Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute has been at the forefront of basic biomedical research is the steadily increasing and generous support from public and private sources. Government agencies, foundations, corporations, and individuals have provided gifts for a wide range of needs including research studies, recruitment of new scientific staff, state-of-the-art equipment, operating costs and endowment needs. Our donors play an integral role in our continued success and we acknowledge their commitment to HWI and basic research by listing their names in our newsletters, annual report, and other publications.

As government grants become more competitive and harder to get, HWI has learned to reach out in new ways to secure the resources necessary to continue extensive work on a variety of diseases. We consistently meet the challenge of raising funds, through which, we are able to strengthen our position as a world leader in structural biology and basic biomedical research.

Members of the Buffalo Rotary Foundation tour the Malkowski lab at HWI to see their gift of $10,000 at work for the purchase of a Pellicon Tangentical Flow Filtration (TFF) System.

Every gift regardless of the size or form will make a vital difference in helping HWI sustain and enhance our commitment to excellence in research. While most grants are usually restricted to a particular project, an individual donor has several options. Donors can designate gifts to a specific area or make an unrestricted donation that allows HWI the flexibility it needs for general operating expenses and to fund projects not covered by grant support
